Gender Equality Competence Development

This course aims to develop and/or strengthen awareness and understanding of gender equality and women’s empowerment as a first step towards behavioral change and the integration of a gender perspective into everyday work for all FAH staff. It provides an introduction to the gender concepts, international frameworks, and methods for working toward gender equality and women’s empowerment in health.

Length of Module

·       3 Hours

 

Methods

·       This course is composed of self-paced eLearning modules, with case studies, self-reflections, three quizzes and one assessment at the end of the module.

 

Learning Objectives

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

·       Define key terms associated with gender equality, gender equity and women's empowerment.

·       Articulate the importance of gender equality in health program

·       Describe the key components of the social construction of gender

·       Demonstrate the intersection between gender, social and health systems

·       Recognize ways in which social systems have perpetuated inequalities between and women

·       Relate to the principal international, regional and national standards on gender equality

·       Describe how Gender equality is a central part of key global commitments and major

·       Driver of human development and UHC

·       Identify mechanisms used for promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.
